Knoxville, TN: Edamerica, the nation’s seventh largest student loan provider, today issued the following statement in response to the President’s remarks during Friday’s press conference:
Knoxville, TN: After careful consideration of the Department of Education (DOE) Parent PLUS loan rights auction requirements, Edamerica has decided not to bid in any of the 50 states as either a lender or a lender-of-last-resort. Congress enacted the auction as part of the College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007 (CCRAA) to force FFELP lenders to compete for exclusive rights to make PLUS loans to new borrowers for a two-year period.

Knoxville, TN: Friday, August 15, was an auspicious occasion for Knoxville-based national student loan provider, Edamerica. The U.S. Department of Education announced that money has been earmarked for Edamerica’s immediate access, under the Ensuring Continued Access to Student Loans Act of 2008 (ECASLA), in order to disburse certified student loans. Edamerica is one of the first Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) lenders to take advantage of this opportunity.
Knoxville, TN: Edamerica welcomes Lidiette Esquivel as marketing representative in South Florida, effective immediately. Esquivel comes to Edamerica from Nelnet, where she was senior vice president and district manager, responsible for managing the Florida and Puerto Rico sales team.
